قُلْ لَّوْ كَانَ الْبَحْرُ مِدَادًا لِّكَلِمٰتِ رَبِّيْ لَنَفِدَ الْبَحْرُ قَبْلَ اَنْ تَنْفَدَ كَلِمٰتُ رَبِّيْ وَلَوْ جِئْنَا بِمِثْلِهٖ مَدَدًا Artinya: "Katakanlah (Muhammad), 'Seandainya lautan menjadi tinta untuk (menulis) kalimat-kalimat Tuhanku, maka pastilah habis lautan itu sebelum selesai (penulisan) kalimat-kalimat Tuhanku, meskipun Kami datangkan tambahan sebanyak itu (pula).'"

Dhalika jaza'uhum jahannamu bima kafaru wattakhadhu ayati wa rusuli huzuwa.

مّٰكِثِيْنَ فِيْهِ اَبَدًاۙ Artinya: "mereka kekal di dalamnya untuk selama-lamanya."

Arabic: اِذْ اَوَى الْفِتْيَةُ اِلَى الْكَهْفِ فَقَالُوْا رَبَّنَآ اٰتِنَا مِنْ لَّدُنْكَ رَحْمَةً وَّهَيِّئْ لَنَا مِنْ اَمْرِنَا رَشَدًا Latin: Iż awal-fityatu ilal-kahfi fa qālụ rabbanā ātinā mil ladungka raḥmataw wa hayyi` lanā min amrinā rasyadā Translation: "When the youths retreated to the cave and said, 'Our Lord, grant us from Yourself mercy and prepare for us from our affair right guidance.'"

: These opening verses emphasize that the Quran is a straight and upright guide, warning those who attribute offspring to Allah and introducing the story of the "People of the Cave" ( Ashab al-Kahf ) who sought refuge and mercy from their Lord.

(Qul lau kānal-baḥru midādal likalimāti rabbī lanafidal-baḥru qabla an tanfada kalimatu rabbī walau ji'nā bimiṡlihī madadā) "Katakanlah: 'Sekiranya lautan menjadi tinta untuk (menulis) kalimat-kalimat Tuhanku, sungguh habislah lautan itu sebelum habis (ditulis) kalimat-kalimat Tuhanku, meskipun Kami datangkan tambahan sebanyak itu (pula)'."
